  • 2011.6.16 The First Environmental Business Seminar

The Environmental Business Seminar was held at the No. 1 Conference Room of the Ministry of the Environment.

Theme: “To review the past environmental administration and consider its future direction in Japan”

    Lecturer: Mr. Keizo Fukushima,
Assistant Section Chief of Accounting Section as well as Policy Assessment and Publicity Section, Minister’s Secretariat of the Ministry of the Environment

Outline: Although the world is still working on the achievement of “Sustainable Development” proposed at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, UNCED held in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 (also known as “Rio Summit”), we reviewed some of the environmental measures which Japan has taken in the past (countermeasures against global warming, creation of a recycling-oriented society etc.), and discussed the direction and process of Japanese environmental administration in the future based on the experiences of the Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11th. Furthermore, we discussed the actual business possibilities under these circumstances. I also introduced the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) to be held again in Rio de Janeiro in 2012 with some specific information such as discussion topics etc.
