Shandong Province Foreign Trade and Economic Affairs
    (September 8th, 2006)

On the morning of September 8th, 2006, Mr. Weishi Guo, the Vice Minister for Shandong Province Foreign Trade and Economic Affairs met with a group of representatives from the Japanese EBRI led by President Kaichi Tamiya.

The purpose of this visit was to promote cooperation and exchanges between environmental businesses in Japan and companies in Qingdao, as well as to discuss the possibility of investment by the province. Vice minister Guo explained the growth of the environmental businesses in the province and expressed the ministry’s interest in future expansion and financial aid.

We hope the discussion between these two parties will further enhance cooperation and exchanges in terms of energy saving technologies, so as to contribute to the development of recycling activities carried out by economy and environment-conscious businesses.

EBRI was established in May 2002 and has been operating throughout Japan. So far, more than 100 small to medium-sized companies have joined the institute. Its aim is the general improvement of environmental businesses in Japan and the growth of member companies through cooperation. Its main activities are:

    1. Management of environmental business session meetings
    2. Management of environmental technology evaluation systems
    3. Discussion and consultation on environmental laws and patents
    4. Exchange and provision of environmental business information
    5. Hosting of social events
